Singapore Biennale 2011: Old Kallang Airport

Wait no longer, you have until 15 May to visit the venues(Old Kallang Airport, Singapore Art Museum and SAM at 8Q, National Museum of Singapore & Marina Bay) to catch sight of the Arty Farty displays at this year's Biennale. Please click here for more information.

Old Kallang Airport - A part of Singapore's Historical Fabric. I have not taken a plane from Kallang Airport(First Civilian Airport), not worked for the People's Association(Early Headquarters of the PA) and been inside a Plane Hangar. With 32 of 63 exhibitions there, it was an opportunity which I could not miss.

Exhibitions

I was captivated by this picture

Let's Create Music with our Bodies - A super cool exhibition! When walking across the floor, the body will act like a radio's antenna. Depending on where you stand, if you are at the "right" position, music from our local radio stations will be played on the sound systems. If not you will hear the out of frequency "zaaaaa....." sound! (click on the pictures to enlarge them to check out the stations)

Sketches of Famous landmarks & Buildings in Singapore on recycled papers. I wish I could sketch like that. Would love to have such pictures to decorate my wall.

Futuristic Architecture - Anything is possible in the future!

A Provision Store - such shops are located below most HDB blocks. They provided residence the convenience of shopping for daily necessities(Sundries, Pots, Brooms...) These stores may fade away due to urbanisation, but I am sure they will be re-created to allow our future generations to remember our past! Enjoy a slice of our past with this exhibition!

This piece of artwork brought a smile on my face (Please click on it to find out why)

A hairy affair - made with human hair
